I intended to cobble up some 501-8A crossovers for use with my current loudspeaker project, 416B in 14cu.ft. BR enclosure with 802/511B on top, until I can use the DCX2496. I then thought that my speakers were similar to the Altec 9845A model which uses the N500G crossover network. The 500G is for 16ohm use.
I figure that by halving the inductor values and doubling the capacitor and resistor values I would get an 8ohm version. Would this be more suitable for my speakers than the 501-8A/
Am I overlooking something?

Are you short on amps? I guess if you're willing to bear the expense, initally, of building the passive, you may find use for it later or be able to sell it when you start with the active. Posts #10 and #11 in this thread show the schematics for N501-8a, both with and without attenuation.
I have just a little bit bigger MLTL box with the 416-8b's. You will be surprised what a big box gets you with these woofers. Everyone should have them.
I have looked a bit more at the N500G network and it is basically a 16ohm version of the N501-8A but using a different arrangement for resistive HF attenuation as well as added LF and HF compensation.

Yep, and lacking what I thought was the better pieces of the Model 19 crossover, the voicing of the high end. For the best, I think the Zilch 19 crossover has most of the goodness. If you are using a Behringer, even the CX3400, they have the CD compenstaion circuit built in and selectable.
Of course you may have already considered adding 8r series. I use mills non-inductive to pad down my HF this way while experimenting.
If you run high-power, may need to account for that though. The single mills are rated @ 12w iirc.

Assuming SS amp or at least a very low [< 0.8 ohm] output impedance tubes, this set-up plus maybe a HF by-pass cap around the attenuator should suffice even though it's for use with a 411-8A: http://www.lansingheritage.org/image...-8a/page03.jpg

Westend9, not short on amps but they need 30+ year service. I guess if I my project fatigue gets worse I can pick up a T-amp and use it with my Luxman receiver as an interim bi-amp arrangement.
